The Cure Releases Box Set

By MTVE.com

The Cure are to release a huge four-disc box set of rarities and b-sides in the New Year.

Join The Dots: B-Sides And Rarities, 1978-2001 features 71 tracks spanning the band's 25 year career, reports Billboard.

Frontman Robert Smith personally supervised the project, which will feature a 76-page booklet with track-by-track commentary from Smith and bassist Simon Gallup.

"The first thing I ever did when I got a new single was flip it over and play the other side," Smith says in a statement. "I always hoped the B-side would give me another version of the artist, something as good as the A-side but somehow different. I expected great B-sides from the artists I loved."

"With the Cure we always looked for something that was a skewed version of what we did on the album. I'm really proud of our B-sides and I've always paid special attention to them," he said.
