So am I lucky, or am I lucky?
- I won a free flight
- I won a free flight to London AND from there, a free train ride to Paris.
- I won a free flight to London and Paris to catch TAKE THAT!
And this is all thanks to MTV! I grew up a fan of MTV and I've joined several contests but this is the first time I've actually won anything – and boy, was it worth the wait! Being a loyal viewer of MTV Asia finally paid off! (:
So first stop! London! There, I got my first taste of being an MTV producer! We braved the cold and rainy weather (Brr!) to shoot the wonderful and beautiful sights of London. We visited the Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey (where Big Ben is!), the huge London Eye that rotates so slowly it never looks like it's moving, and then we took a cruise down Thames River to the Tower Bridge. Wondering what happened to the infamous London Bridge? Apparently, it's really boring and drab compared to the majestic Tower Bridge. It was fantastic being able to help shoot and see how MTV segments and shows were produced. Super cool :D
And after a cold and hectic day of shooting, we were off to France! But before that, we got to interview Take That at St. Pancras Train Station. This was really exciting. I got to see Take That in the flesh! Mark and Gary stood right next to me and shook my hand and talked to me! (!!! Forgive the excessive exclamation marks :X Excited fan here.) Take That's HUGE in the UK and there were all these fans on the outside staring through the glass hoping that they could be inside, next to the band, and yet there I was, right next to them! I feel so lucky every time I think about it. Imagine how many people wanted to be in my shoes!
That night we headed off to the launch party. And that was really cool! It was Circus themed, since their latest album is called “The Circus”. There were flame throwers, people on stilts and ballerinas on swings… It was all very pretty and very intricate! Pity none of my pictures actually turned out decent :X The launch party itself was a bomb. They started off the night with “Greatest Day” which they said was written specially so they could start concerts and launch parties with the song! They also sang new tracks like ‘Up All Night' as well as some of my favorite tracks, ‘Shine' and ‘Patience'!
The night ended on a high for me because of the fantastic performance and knowing that the very next day, I would be interviewing the band for MTV News! This meant more Take That, even more up-close and personal! :D This time, I got to snap plenty of pictures to my heart's content.
This entire trip was unbelievable and exhilarating. It was fantastic to be able to do three things I've dreamt of at one go – See Take That (!), Travel to two of the greatest cities in the world- London and Paris, and be an MTV producer for a day and see how things work! Woohoo! I had a blast and this is all thanks to MTV! :D
