MTV SWAG - Jonas Brothers' 'Live' in London Contest Winner's Account (June 2009, Wembley Arena)

"It was surreal how close they were to us, and Joe Jonas is absolutely gorgeous in real life!"  Our contest winner Lyana enjoying the sights in London It all started with a phone call on Thursday morning. I thought I was dreaming when I heard the words "You've won a trip to catch the Jonas Brothers LIVE in London!" I could barely believe it until my mom had to repeat those words a million times till my mind let the news sink in. We were greeted by the wonderful summer breeze as soon as we landed at Heathrow Airport. It was a great escape from the Singapore heat. Not gonna lie. We started the day by taking the London tube to Hyde Park where we began our adventure. We strolled down the park to the picturesque Buckingham Palace where the changing of guards took place at 11.30am. It was too crowded to get a clear view of the ceremony so we got ice - cream and continued down the road. We saw two of the guards up close; it felt like we were looking at a postcard. Even though it was 17 degrees celsius, the sun was burning into our skin as we reached Trafalgar Square. Trafalgar Square was like how I pictured it. I've seen it many times on the big screen, but it looks so much better in real life. The view from it all was breathtaking.  Joe Jonas Being huge, huge fans of Harry Potter, we headed straight to King's Cross Station and pretended we were going to Hogwarts. We literally tried to walk through platform nine and three quarters, but failed miserably. We ended our day by sitting on the steps outside of The Wembley Arena while watching the sunset at 10pm, in anticipation of The Jonas Brothers' concert the next day. We woke up the next day with our hearts entangled in knots, too excited and nervous with the thought of watching The Jonas' concert later in the day. But first, we had to meet even more celebrities who were made of wax at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. We had a blast taking tons of pictures with Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron, Johnny Depp, Daniel Radcliffe and even the president of the United States of America, Obama! Evening came and it was soon time to head into the Arena for the Soundcheck party, but we were stuck under the rain as the line was too long. However it was worth it when we saw the brothers up close on stage performing their hit song "Paranoid". It was so surreal how close they were to us, and I must confess, Joe Jonas is absolutely gorgeous in real life. Despite being (insanely) famous, they were really down to earth as they interacted with the few of us that were at the soundcheck. We were disappointed when the soundcheck ended but we could hardly wait for the show to start. To our surprise, Demi Lovato opened the show with "Lala Land" and ended with her song "Get Back". After another half an hour, the real show started and the crowd went wild. The girls there were ten times louder and crazier than the ones back home. They sounded amazing live, better than I expected. The stage was grand and the lighting was spectacular. Halfway through the show, MCFLY made a surprise appearance and they performed "Star Girl" together. Little did we know, we were also filmed on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! It was all so exciting! The show ended too soon and we can't wait to see those boys again. We still hope to meet them one day, which would be the ultimate dream. Thank you so much MTV for this epic experience!
